The subtitle of the book is The French Police at the Service of the Gestapo. The American Police at the Service of the Gestapo.
Two of my books arrived, the one just mentioned and Reconstruction: America’s Unfinished Revolution 1863-1877. Where do I begin to tell the story that is older than the sea (Trump and others like him) of America that we see. Hate! I decided to start both books, hoping to find great material. Hoping? All it took was reading two pages and I found this “Without making improper comparisons (improper? Maybe we will see something?), the Roundup of the Vel D’Hiv is a very current topic. I have already mentioned Sacramento, Salem, and Olympia because the governors are very concerned and are taking action against deportations “mass deportations,”
And then two pages later in this foreword appeared a paragraph devoted to a “clown” who “our parents’ generation was replete with jokes about another clown who shouted obscenities at Munich (Springfield, Ohio recently), and Nurenberg (think of any city where you live now in Red and Blue states),,,”
I left out “How can we fail to make the connection to Donald Trump’s policy toward Mexican and Central American refugees?” That was written in February 2017 in Jerusalem. Trump took office in January and January is back with vengeance. Michel Warschawski also wrote about the Muslim ban in that foreword.
I did it again. I picked a book to read and write about with the world. The governors of those students and others will soon be informed about this proper comparison. I will leave it to Fox News to continue to make improper comparisons to the “Roundup” that took place in France.
The first chapter concludes with talk about concentration camps to hold the tens of thousands of Jews and others and then raids were going to come. The first stage was that Jews were ordered to appear at police stations, but there were indications of what was to be even before that. Actually, long before that because hate against Jews ran deep. And we have to appeal to or demand of those police right now who may never have heard of this history.
Oh you want to learn something about the history of America’s Unfinished Revolution. You just had one unit, but let’s turn now to hate in American during the Civil War. I am going to tie this also to French history in a way. President Lincoln, in 1862, made an agreement with “an entrepreneur of dubious character” where 5,000 blacks would settle on the Ile a Vache in Haiti. There were four hundred (453 in the abstract about this colony) who reached that island and in 1864 “those fortunate to survive returned.”
This plan was similar to indentured servitude and at the end of four years great benefits would accrue to those blacks who worked on the cotton plantation, including receiving 16 acres of land and wages for their work. I did research online to find that material.
I just read that 350 blacks returned in an article “During one Cabinet debate over colonization proposals,
in reaction to a suggestion of compulsory deportation,
Lincoln emphasized, ―Their emigration must be
voluntary and without expense to themselves.‖90 This
unwavering belief in colonization as strictly a voluntary
measure further demonstrates Lincoln‘s earnest
conviction that blacks would be inclined to pursue
emigration. On paper, Île à Vache was the ideal
opportunity to do just that.”

And what crime had Black people committed? Being Black and being free were keys to understanding just how America First Lincoln’s America was. Hitler learned most of what he did to the Jews and others from the American experience. Leaving the other out and deporting good people is what we are facing right now. I have been actively involved for over 20 years as a defender of the immigrants. The time to wake up was in the past, but we have to catch up now and eliminate the mistakes, particularly the one just made by Trump in which he demanded his men and women not to pass the border security bill. Sink the Bismark, I say. Do you get that little comment?
The third book that I ordered has not arrived. That one is Primo Levi’s Auschwitz Report. After reading Elie Wiesel’s Night, I wanted to know more. Congress has to learn much more!
